It’s time for a decadent, sweet and spectacular dessert. Bananas Foster is a great dessert for those who love putting on a food show.

Sometimes a dessert comes along that just inspires. Yes, with fire, the intrigue is even stronger and Bananas Foster never disappoints. An American dish from New Orleans, it is made with a combination of bananas, brown sugar, cinnamon, rum, banana liqueur and served with vanilla ice cream. It is then set on fire after the initial cooking, making a spectacle of it while adding some extra flavour.
When baking, try and use a cast-iron pan that you can put into the oven and has a handle. We do advise caution when working with open flames. So, use protective gear like gloves and hold the pan far away from you and any spectators. You can add banana liqueur to the sauce for some more banana flavour. Serve with vanilla ice cream and pour some more sauce over the deliciousness.
